L.I.F.E : Living In Fine Exuberance

Technology can make your life simple: and we took our previous home automation solution a step further to introduce Location Based Services, all accessible through the LIFE client: An Application that makes your life Living In Fine Exuberance.

The L.I.F.E. mobile client presents all L.I.F.E. information to the user in a unified interface on his/her mobile device. The L.I.F.E. mobile client was developed and tested on Pocket PC 2002 platform. It provides the following functionality.

The mobile client interacts with the Home Automation web service cluster to present the latest device status to the user. It also enables him/her to trigger actions on the devices at home.
The client interacts with the Siemens Location Enabling Server (LES) to provide location information to the user in the form of a map of the user's current location.
It provides a G.A.M.E tab that enables the user to play the location-based G.A.M.E. This interface interacts with the G.A.M.E. server to provide clues to the user based on his/her preferences and geographical location. The user is allowed to provide an answer, and on successfully answering a clue, an e-coupon is downloaded from the G.A.M.E. server and stored by the mobile client. When the user needs to redeem the e-voucher, he/she flashes the coupon and is flashed by the barcode reader at the shop checkout counter. The user has the option of playing the G.A.M.E. independent of the shopping list and task scheduler.
Once a user successfully downloads a clue, he/she can request a navigation map from his/her current location to the shop where it can be redeemed.
Location aware task reminders also pop-up on the mobile client when the user is in the vicinity of one of his preferred shops.

For the user to be able to utilize all the features of the L.I.F.E. system, the mobile device must be internet enabled (GPRS, WLAN or other Wireless Networking technologies) and should be traceable (GPS or GSM cell identification method).
